]]>In the fast-paced world of hospitality and food service, having the right equipment can make all the difference. Commercial juicers are essential tools for businesses aiming to provide fresh, healthy beverages to their customers. In this guide, we'll explore the ins and outs of commercial juicers, shedding light on their types, benefits, and the key factors to consider when choosing the perfect one for your business.
Centrifugal Juicers:
These high-speed juicers are known for their efficiency. They use centrifugal force to extract juice quickly, making them ideal for businesses with high-volume demands. Centrifugal juicers work well with most fruits and vegetables, making them versatile choices for commercial kitchens.
Masticating Juicers:
Also known as slow or cold-press juicers, masticating juicers operate at lower speeds, minimizing heat generation during the juicing process. This helps preserve the nutritional content of the juice, making them popular for health-conscious establishments.
Citrus Juicers:
Specifically designed for citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and limes, these juicers are efficient in extracting juice from citrus halves. They are often used in bars, cafes, and restaurants that require fresh citrus juice for cocktails, beverages, or culinary applications.
Cold Press Juicers:
These juicers are designed for longer shelf life and maximum squeezing. Commercial cold press juicers can handle large quantities of produce, making them suitable for businesses that require a constant supply of fresh juice and are looking to bottle their juice.
Time Efficiency:
Commercial juicers are designed to operate quickly, allowing businesses to meet high demand during peak hours. This time efficiency is crucial in maintaining a smooth workflow in busy kitchens and establishments.
Consistency:
With precise engineering, commercial juicers ensure consistent results in terms of juice quality and quantity. This reliability is essential for businesses that prioritize uniformity in their products.
Nutrient Retention:
Masticating and cold press juicers, in particular, are known for preserving more nutrients in the juice due to their low-speed extraction process. This appeals to health-conscious consumers seeking the maximum nutritional benefit from their beverages.
Durability:
Built to withstand heavy usage, commercial juicers are constructed with robust materials that can endure the demands of a busy commercial kitchen. This durability ensures a longer lifespan, providing a solid return on investment.
Capacity:
Consider the volume of juice your business needs to produce regularly. Choosing a juicer with the appropriate capacity ensures that you can meet demand without overworking the equipment.
Type of Produce:
Evaluate the types of fruits and vegetables you will be juicing. Different juicers excel with different produce, so selecting one that aligns with your menu offerings is crucial.
Ease of Cleaning:
Time is of the essence in a commercial kitchen. Opt for a juicer that is easy to disassemble and clean to minimize downtime and maintain hygiene standards.
Budget:
Assess your budget constraints and look for a commercial juicer that offers the best value for your investment. Consider long-term costs, including maintenance and repairs.
In the realm of commercial kitchens and food service establishments, the right equipment can be a game-changer. Commercial juicers, with their efficiency, consistency, and durability, are indispensable tools for businesses aiming to deliver fresh, quality beverages to their customers. By understanding the different types and key considerations, you can make an informed decision and set your business on the path to squeezing success. ]]>Our line of peelers can assist companies that are using lemons to create a wide variety of products using different parts of the lemon.
Limoncello requires the lemon peel, you can adjust our peelers to create a lemon peel with no white albedo.
Lemon zest is used to flavor baked goods and breads.
We recommended using the ASTRA peeler together with a crusher for better quality.
Peel the yellow skin (Flavedo)
The outer skin can be peeled thinly and uniformly, so the work is not labor-intensive and can be easily performed by anyone.
Thin peel leads to shorter drying time before powdering.
Peel the white skin (Albedo)
Machines can be used to process large quantities while maintaining consistent quality, a task that would take more work to accomplish by hand.
Increase the taste of juice
In the case of squeezing, when the whole lemon is squeezed, it causes problems such as a bitter taste, but by peeling before squeezing, only pure juice will be squeezed. This will increase the taste of your lemon juice.
Aroma oil
Peel the outer skin containing limonene, and the oil is refined by steam distillation.
Adjust the peeling depth
The thickness can be freely adjusted by the peeler used and the machine settings.
Fine adjustments can be made, such as peeling only the outer skin as thin as possible, or peeling all the way to the pulp at once, enabling various types of peeling with a single machine.
Peel wonky-shaped lemons
The peeler follows the shape of the fruit, so it has no problem peeling wonky-shaped lemons.
ASTRA peelers can be washed in water for easy removal of fruit juice. Daily maintenance is easy, keeping the unit always clean.

As the leaves change from shimmering green to warm oranges, reds, and yellows, we welcome a new season of bounty - fall. Fall brings with it a myriad of different fruits and vegetables, each with their unique flavors, colors, and health benefits.

When it comes to vegetables, fall is the season for root vegetables and squashes. Butternut squash, with its sweet and nutty flavor, is a great source of fiber, vitamin C, magnesium, and potassium. As companies are working out the best ways to follow COVID-19 social distancing rules they are relying on more tools and technology. QSR Magazine highlights some of the different challenges in A Restaurant's Guide to No-Contact Delivery mentioning how restaurants are using kitchen tools like tongs to handle food for delivery. Many large companies are looking towards robotics too as a solution to providing no contact food preparation.
Today in a Walmart in Dixon, California a new Blendid kiosk is opening. Blendid is an autonomous smoothie-making robot that creates contactless and customized smoothies. Consumers order through the app or at the kiosk.
“Blendid is on a mission to make delicious and customized food accessible to all through the use of robotics and AI,” explained Vipin Jain, CEO and co-founder of Sunnyvale, California-based Blendid. “Launching our first Jamba by Blendid kiosk further expands our goals and accessibility. We’re proud to team up with the leading smoothie brand on this new opportunity to provide a solution for contactless food preparation and delivery, which has become imperative during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Blendid chose to work with Jamba, already well known for its freshly blended fruit and vegetable smoothies, made-to-order bowls, fresh-squeezed juices, and shots, boosts and bites. Read more in the Progressive Grocer article,
Blendid partnered with Jamba to feature their drink recipes. As noted in The Spoon article, linking their product to Jamba establishes consumer understanding. Customers link Jamba to smoothies and immediately understand the purpose of the robot when they see the Jamba logo.
"The advantage to a robotic kiosk, of course, is the ability to extend a brand like Jamba’s into new locations without needing to build out a full restaurant." Read more from The Spoon.
Other robotic companies have also embraced partnerships with well known brands. As discussed in The Spoon, Sally the Fresh Food Robot, from Chowbotics has entered into a partnership with Saladworks. This partnership is a great win-win arrangement because it brings the Saladworks brand and known menu, with a small footprint, Sally takes up only a 3 x 3 space, into new markets such as hospitals, universities and supermarkets. It expands the brand without having to open new store locations. Chowbotics creates a delicious product and using the Saladworks menu brings the high quality salad options to different locations in a contactless way, you can purchase through an app.
We look forward to following the growing robotic trends in the healthy food arena in the new year. We hope to be a part of helping our customers create new safe ways to provide healthy fresh produce options. We are very excited to be able to offer Sally, The Fresh Food Robot to our customers. If you would like more information about Sally let us know and we will send you over the details.

This is a general list of equipment you will need to effectively run a juice bar. It will depend upon what your juice bar business model looks like to determine if you only need certain items from the list. To start planning your juice bar you need to select your juice bar business model. Do you want to serve bottled juice or fresh on demand juice? Will you include smoothies? Acai bowls? Do you want to make your own nut milks? These are a few of the starter questions we ask during a consultation because this will help determine what the right juicer for you will be.
Examples:
Juice Bar Consultation with Thomas.
Thomas wants to start a juice bar. He has a brick and mortar store located in a busy downtown area near a yoga studio. He is very passionate about the environment and serving the best organic vegetables from local farmers. His ideal business model will be to juice in batches and bottle the juice for his customers to grab and go. What juicers should Thomas get? We would recommend Thomas look at the Zumex Mastery with a citrus juicer or the Peel-a-ton Peeler KA-700H to peel the citrus. We would also recommend the glass bottles.
Juice Bar Consultation with Jane.
Jane is opening a juice bar in a food hall. She is going to have a steady flow of customers and she wants to serve fresh juice on demand and allow the customers to create their own juice blends or pick from a menu. She also wants to serve wheatgrass shots. We would recommend the Zumex Multifruit Juicer or the Nutrifaster N450 for her busy juice bar. She would add in the plastic cups and the Opti-Fresh wheatgrass juicer with our 4 oz cups.
When you are researching your best commercial juicer options make sure the company you buy from offers a good selection of brands and has your best interests as a priority. We offer a range of financing options and you can always scale your business and start with a smaller capacity juicer or if you believe you will have higher volume, finance the juicer and pay for it with your profits. Call or chat with us to discuss your juice bar needs.
]]>Selecting the right juicer for your business will depend upon a few factors, budget, projected volume, end use of juice (sell by the bottle or by the glass), placement of machine (in produce department, juice bar, bakery/coffee shop).
Most commercial citrus juicers utilize a process of cutting and pressing the citrus. You will have options to manually feed the oranges or the more advanced automatic juicers where you can load the oranges in a basket at the top of the machine and it automatically feeds and processes the juice. Let's start with the smallest commercial citrus juicer, the reamers.
The Santos C11 Classic Citrus Juicer has been used since 1954, to juice everywhere you need a glass of freshly squeezed citrus juice: health food stores, hotels, bars, restaurants... You cut the fruit, oranges, lemons, limes or grapefruit in half and press the fruit to the reamer. You will notice the shape and position of the spout, the juicer is made to lean forward so you easily get a full glass of juice. The juicer comes with 3 sized reamers to juice the oranges, lemons and limes, and the grapefruit.
Reamers work best for customers in restaurants, juice bars and supermarkets who offer fresh orange juice by the glass, not bottled. It does require increased labor as someone has to cut the fruit and stand and do the juicing.
ZUMEX, a world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative solutions for fruit and vegetable juicers, offers the best commercial citrus juicer options for freshly squeezed juice of the highest quality. They offer a wide variety of commercial juicers in different sizes and they can sit on a counter or on a movable podium for ease of motion on the supermarket or restaurant floor and to move for cleaning.
The Zumex Minex is a colorful orange juicer perfect for a cafe countertop. It will juice 13 fruits per minute and hold 6-7 fruit on the feeder ramp. Zumex offers many other options and configurations so you can get the perfect juice machine for your business.
There area a number of different Zumex commercial citrus juicers to choose from the Essential, The Versatile and the Speed Up line, with options for on the counter or on a podium, self serve or juice tank and processing up to 40 fruit per minute.
The Zumex commercial citrus juicer collection will have the perfect juicer for your business. Juice Bar Outfitter provides additional support to ensure you have all of the necessary gear to have a profitable and successful juice business. Zumex also has an industrial option for customers who have higher volume needs. This would be perfect for a supermarket or juice bar bottling their own juice.
When you decide to add fresh citrus juice to your business give us a call and we can help walk you through the important steps to make sure you get a juicer that is perfect for your business. Here are the top ten varieties of apples that are the best for juicing. The list of apples starts with the sweetest variety and ends with the tart Granny Smith:
1) Fuji
2) Gala
3) Honeycrisp
4) Ambrosia
5) Jonagold
6). Jazz
7) Braeburn
8) Pink Lady
9) McIntosh
10) Granny Smith
Sprouts has a great variety of apples in their produce department and this handy signage listing the apples from tart to sweet.
Apples are a great way to add a little sweetness to your fruit and vegetable juices. My favorite apple to juice is the Granny Smith, I will usually grab that for my green drinks and if I want something a little sweeter will pick up a Pink Lady. If you want to add a lot of sweetness to your juice to maybe offset the bitterness of a particular green, the Fuji or Gala are great choices. When juicing with a commercial fruit and vegetable juicer like the Zumex Multifruit or Nutrifaster you include them directly with your recipe. A good juicing technique is to vary hard and soft produce so if your recipe calls for leafy greens, I would place the greens in the juicer first and then follow up with the apple. The hard apple will help to push the greens through the juicer for a delicious tasting juice.
If you are interested in adding fresh juice to your business, give us a call or email and we will discuss the different juicing options.

Our final recipe we tried was a smoothie and that was hands down our favorite, a perfect fall taste.

Customers want to feel safe and the Walmart redesign accommodates the new 2020 goals. The curbside pick up area is clearly defined with a blue arch. The Giant Company is hosting virtual Halloween cooking classes for kids every. Monday and Wednesday in October. Participants register online and are given a shopping list of ingredients and create fun seasonal recipes like Pumpkin Pie Energy Bites, Vampire Apple and Strawberry Ghosts.
2020 has disrupted everything and the supermarkets that will continue to grow and thrive will adapt and innovate. Customers will be looking for emphasis on safety while shopping in store, efficiency with online ordering and curbside pickup and creative experiences like the online cooking classes. As we approach the holiday season it is important to get creative and still maintain the spirit of the holidays, embrace the current new normal and help customers try new items from the produce department. If you offer fresh juice in your produce department you can make sure you let the customer know you emphasize their safety. Have signs around the orange juicer, offer disposable gloves, wipes or have the juice already in bottles in a chipped ice display. Include a QR code they can scan to get recipes instead of a recipe card and that can link them to an interactive page on your website with fun seasonal recipes.
]]>2) Blood Orange
3) Navel
A great tasting glass of fresh squeezed orange juice relies on two things, the type of orange juicer used and the type of orange.
The best orange juicer is the Zumex. The best orange juicer for supermarkets is the Zumex Speed Up and the best citrus juicer option for juice bars and restaurants would be the Versatile Pro or Essential Pro.
The Valencia orange is a juicy and sweet variety that is perfect for fresh squeezed orange juice. Grown in the United States in California and Florida it's growing season is March through September, with some farms growing into December. Friends Ranch in Ojai grows the Valencias late spring to early winter.
Another top orange that makes a delicious sweet and tart juice is the blood orange variety. The blood orange has a red pigmented flesh thanks to anthocyanin. The blood orange juice has a hint of a berry taste and is more tart than the Valencia orange. The growing season for blood oranges is late winter through early summer according to the Produce Market Guide.
A third orange variety used for juicing is the Navel Orange. The navel orange is usually the traditional bright orange color but the juice is not as sweet as the Valencia variety. The navel growing season is January to April.
